(P2): Exquisite Corpse Soundscape Brainstorm

To me, this project seems chaotic but also organized. I have never thought of using random sounds from life and compiling them into a musical piece. I think there are many different routes you can go with this project, but I have one idea I think could be interesting. I want to create a piece that is a little bit unsettling for the listener to hear. I feel like making it horror-based can be a challenge but if I can do so successfully, the performance will be fun (especially around Halloween). I want to create an environment that feels like you are in a horror movie and waiting for the next jump scare or like someone is watching you and you have to keep looking over your shoulder. There are many different emotions one can induce with this project but I think that because it is so unique, it automatically creates a sense of unease and I want to play into that idea. I think I will choose one sound to be the base for the entire piece, like the beat, and use other sounds to enrich the feeling I want to portray. I think that the more chaotic it is will help me out, but I still want it to be organized and not random. Because of that, I think having one sound that loops throughout the entire piece will set the baseline for the organization because it has consistency rather than random sounds playing the whole time. I will also emphasize sounds that are 'frightening' or 'uneasy' to create that jump scare and make those sounds appear randomly so the listener isn't expecting it. Overall, I think it will be fun and interesting to see what my final piece comes out to be.
